My Sims 3 character is a young adult but still going to highschool?

FIRST it took forever and restarting the game to get her age transition triggered. NOW it says she's still a teen and still going to high school. She has the option of adult clothes? (The ones i've downloaded). Is there a way to fix this at all? It's the second time it's happened and will no go away.
